If you have disenrolled from your Medicare Part D plan (or Medicare Advantage plan) for next year and are still within the
annual Open Enrollment Period (AEP - running each year from October 15th through December 7th), you can simply contact your Medicare Part D plan again and re-enroll into the same for next year plan or choose a different Part D plan for next year.
However, if you are outside of the AEP, you may have only a limited opportunity to rejoin a Medicare Part D plan before next year's AEP that starts October 15th.
For instance, if you disenrolled from your 2023 Medicare Part D plan in November 2023, and it is now January 2024, you are outside of the annual Open Enrollment Period that ended on December 7, 2023 and you may need to wait until October 15, 2024 to join a 2025 Medicare Part D plan.
The good news is that Medicare does allow some people to join a Medicare Part D plan outside of the AEP, but only if they can qualify for a
Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
For example, if you are eligible for your State's Medicaid program or the
Medicare Part D
Extra-Help program (
Low-Income Subsidy (LIS)), you can join or change your Medicare
Part D prescription drug coverage
once each quarter from January through September -- as
Extra Help recipients are granted a quarterly Special Enrollment
Period. Please note, the quarterly rather than continuous SEP for Extra Help recipients started in
2019.

Enrollment Period.
