Starting on January 1, 2014, the sanctions imposed on SilverScript Medicare Part D plans have been lifted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and SilverScript can once again market their Medicare Part D plans and enroll Medicare beneficiaries into their prescription drug plans.
CMS originally suspended marketing and enrollment activities on January 15, 2013 due to SilverScript deficiencies in enrollment operations, claims adjudication, and low income subsidy (LIS) administration.
After an extensive audit and review process, CMS determined that the SilverScript deficiencies were corrected and not likely to recur. However, SilverScript has volunteered to forgo the auto-enrollment of LIS Medicare beneficiaries so that CMS can further monitor the SilverScript enrollment process. Once SilverScript has demonstrate that deficiencies have not recurred, then CMS will restore SilverScript’s ability to accept the auto-enrollment of LIS-qualified Medicare beneficiaries.
We have updated our 2014 Medicare Part D prescription drug plan search tool (
PDP-Finder) to include the 2014 SilverScript Medicare Part D plans and additional formulary and retail cost information will be included as the data becomes available.
