Tips on using the Aetna, First Health, and Coventry Health 2016/2017 Medicare healthcare provider search and pharmacy search tools

Published on 2016-10-07 21:26:01Category: Pharmacies & Providers

There are several ways to find your way to Aetna, Coventry, and First Health healthcare providers, pharmacies and drug lists.

In general, you can begin on on the Coventry website starting at:
https://www.coventry-medicare.com/
or https://www.aetnamedicare.com/

Scroll down the page and then choose the link under "Find Care" or "Is Your Drug Covered?"

Healthcare Providers

Using the above link and choosing the link under "Find Care"
  • The link is "Find doctors, dentists, hospitals & urgent care centers >"
  • Choose the type of provider such as "Doctors, Hospitals & Facilities"
  • Choose your location (State) from the list (we used Ohio as our example)

  • You can also search by providers, specialties, or conditions
  • You can narrow your search by moving the left-hand slider to reduce the search radius.
The FirstHealth healthcare provider search is similar and can be found at:

The 2017 Coventry Health Medicare Advantage plan provider search (doctors, hospitals & dentists) tool can also be found on the Coventry website at http://coventry-medicare.coventryhealthcare.com/locate-a-provider/index.htm.

Pharmacy and Drug Search

Again, you can begin on on the Coventry website starting at:
https://www.coventry-medicare.com/
or https://www.aetnamedicare.com/

Scroll down to the center of the page and look for the section entitled "Is Your Drug Covered?"
  • Under this section, click on the link " Find a pharmacy >" and you will be on https://www.coventry-medicare.com/en/prescription-drugs/find-pharmacy.html
  • Depending on the time of year, you may see a 2017 and a 2016 tab. If available, choose your year (2017) and click on the link "Find a Pharmacy"
  • Follow the steps on the page entitled "Find 2017 Providers, Drugs, Pharmacies and Dentists" where you can enter your Zip Code (You will find this page link as "https://rxtools.aetnamedicare.com/PlanCompare/Consumer/2017/individual/Tools/HelpfulTools".)
  • You will then need to choose the tab "Medicare and Drug Coverage (MAPD / Part C)" or "Drug Coverage Only (PDP / Part D)" and then the "Find Pharmacy" link.
  • Once on the pharmacy finder page, if the geographic display is too small and you cannot find any pharmacies in your area or there are too many pharmacies, you can expand or contract the geographical view to include a larger or smaller area using the "+/-" icon.
  • For each pharmacy in the list, the pharmacy type column will show if the pharmacy is a "Preferred" or "Standard" pharmacy along with other pharmacy attributes.

For assistance, you can telephone First Health Part D Customer Service at 1-844-233-1938 (TTY: 711),
Coventry Customer Services at: 1-844-741-8423 (TTY: 711), and
Aetna Customer Service at 1‐800‐642‐0013 (TTY 711).

First Health stand-alone Medicare Part D (PDP) plan information can be found at:
http://coventry-medicare.coventryhealthcare.com/explore-our-plans/prescription-only/index.htm (plans provided by First Health Part D from Coventry).

The Medicare Part D pharmacy search can be found on the Coventry website starting at:
http://coventry-medicare.coventryhealthcare.com/
  • Scroll down to the center of the page and the section entitled "FIND MORE INFORMATION"
  • Click on the link "Prescription Drug Resources" and a sub-menu will open under this text
  • Click on the link that states "Pharmacy Locator & Directories"
  • Follow the steps on the page entitled "Pharmacy Locator"
  • You will find a link to "https://rxtools.aetnamedicare.com/plancompare/consumer/2016/individual/Tools/HelpfulTools" where you can enter your Zip Code
  • Select the Find Pharmacy (or Find Drug or Find Provider) under the plan name.
  • For assistance, you can telephone Member Services at: 1-888-247-1051 (TTY: 711), (8:00 a.m. to  8:00 p.m. 7 days a week, from 10/1-2/14,and 8:00 a.m. to  8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, from 2/15-9/30)
Once on the pharmacy finder page, if the geographic display is too small and you cannot find any pharmacies in your area or there are too many pharmacies, you can expand or contract the geographical view to include a larger or smaller area.

For each pharmacy in the list, the pharmacy type column will show if the pharmacy is "Preferred" (such as Wal-Mart Pharmacy) or "Standard" (such as CVS Pharmacy) along with other pharmacy attributes.

Please notice the color key for Orange pharmacy: with Preferred Cost Share and Blue pharmacy: with Standard Cost Share.

Remember that every Medicare Part D prescription drug plan has a large network of pharmacies across the country (usually about 60,000+) where you can use your Medicare Part D prescription drug plan coverage.

Some Medicare plans (such as Aetna / First Health) also use preferred network pharmacies that offer more affordable pricing than standard network pharmacies (for example, Aetna uses about 20,000 preferred pharmacies).

The list of 2017 Aetna preferred pharmacies can be found here: https://www.coventry-medicare.com/documents/individual/2017/directories/DIRR-preferred-pharmacies-2017.pdf
