Yes. Medicare does not cover people who live outside of the U.S. and the U.S. territories and you can suspend your Medicare coverage as you move outside of the United States.
For more assistance, you can call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 and
speak with a Medicare representative who will be able
to discuss your options for suspending Part B and how you would
transition back into the Medicare program once you return to the United
States.
And when you move outside of your Medicare plan's Service Area . . .When you notify your Medicare Advantage plan of your change of address to another country, the plan will drop your coverage due to your being outside of the plan's service area. When you are disenrolled from your Medicare Advantage plan you will automatically return to Original Medicare Part A and Part B.
When you move back to the U.S., you will receive a
Special Enrollment Period to join a Medicare Advantage plan now that you have moved into a valid service area.
Please keep in mind that coverage for a Medicare Advantage plan becomes effective on the first day of the month following your enrollment. Therefore, if you enroll on the last day of the month, your coverage would start on the next day, but if it is, let's say the second day of the month when you enroll, your coverage would not start until the first day of the following month.
