No. You do not need to cancel or disenroll from your existing Medicare Part D plan before enrolling in a new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
When you change Medicare Part D prescription drug plans, you need only to enroll into a
new Part D plan (or
new Medicare Advantage plan) and your current Part D plan will be automatically notified of your plan change.
Remember that if you do not enroll in a new Medicare Part D plan, you will be automatically re-enrolled in your
existing Medicare Part D plan or
Medicare Advantage plan for the next plan year - along with any
changes to that plan (assuming the Medicare plan is still being offered in the new plan year).
