When I enroll in a new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, do I need to disenroll from my old Medicare Part D plan?
Medicare plan disenrollment · updated Dec 4, 2024
When you change Medicare Part D prescription drug plans, you need only to enroll into a new Part D plan (or new Medicare Advantage plan) and your current Part D plan will be automatically notified of your plan change.
Remember that if you do not enroll in a new Medicare Part D plan, you will be automatically re-enrolled in your existing Medicare Part D plan or Medicare Advantage plan for the next plan year - along with any changes to that plan (assuming the Medicare plan is still being offered in the new plan year).
