You must be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.
You must provide evidence of rejection for medical reasons, a requirement of restrictive riders, an up-rated premium, or a pre-existing conditions limitation on a Medicare supplemental insurance policy, or not have comprehensive Medicare supplement coverage available to you.
You must not have access to a reasonable choice of Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C).
Non-Medicare Plans - Eligibility Requirements
You must be a resident of Washington state.
You must have been rejected for coverage by an insurance carrier based upon the results of the Standard Health Questionnaire, or live in a Washington state county where individual health benefit plans are not offered.
You must not be eligible for Medicare coverage.
Important Note
Basic Plan is for qualified individuals enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. WSHIP pays as secondary insurance and covers patient responsibility for eligible expenses. This plan does not provide prescription drug coverage except supplemental benefits for medications covered under Medicare Part B. Under Washington law, if you live in a county with a reasonable choice of Medicare Advantage Plans, you are ineligible for WSHIP.
