I enrolled in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan last week, how much time will it take before receiving my plan information?

Medicare Part D enrollment · updated Jan 21, 2026

About 10 business days.  Usually you will receive your "Welcome" information - including your new Member ID card from your Medicare plan within 7 to 10 business days - after Medicare approves your enrollment application.

However, due to the time needed to process an enrollment, most Medicare plans are now sending a simple confirmation letter once they receive your application so that you know the enrollment process has begun.

Usually during the Annual Election Period or annual Fall Open Enrollment Period, new Medicare Part D plan or Medicare Advantage plan members should plan on a couple weeks before receiving information from their newly selected Medicare Part D prescription drug plan (or Medicare Advantage plan).

Naturally, depending on when you enrolled in your Medicare Part D plan - and the number of other plan enrollees - and the Holiday mail rush - you may wait up to three weeks to receive your new Medicare plan membership information.

If you have not received your Member ID and need prescriptions - you should contact your Medicare plan's Customer Service or Member Services representatives using the toll-free number found on your enrollment information or any of your plan's printed materials. Tip:  Finding your Medicare plan's Member Services telephone number.
We have the Medicare plan contact information for all Medicare Part D plans and Medicare Advantage plans across the country when you click on our "Benefit and Contact Info" button or click on the plan name for the Plan information pages.  Start with our Medicare Part D Plan Finder: PDP-Finder.com or our Medicare Advantage Plan Finder at  MA-Finder.com.
