Can I still apply for the 2017 Medicare Part D Extra Help or Low-Income Subsidy program?

Medicaid, LIS, & Extra Help · published Feb 20, 2017

Yes.  You can apply for the Medicare Part D financial Extra-Help or Low-Income Subsidy program at any time throughout the plan year - even if you have already enrolled into a 2017 Medicare Part D plan.

To apply for Extra Help, you can contact your state Medicaid office or you can call the Social Security Administration for more information at: (1-800-772-1213).

Remember, if you are eligible for the Medicare Part D Extra Help program, you will be granted a continuous Special Enrollment Period (SEP) so that you have the option to change enrollment to another Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan that provides more affordable health and prescription coverage.

Also, if you are eligible for Medicaid, you are automatically eligible for the Medicare Part D Extra Help program.
